Signs you need you get your Engine Checked

If you had a constant pain that you felt every time you walked would you avoid the doctor until the pain became unbearable and you couldn’t walk? Of course not. Then why would you do the same with your car engine. Too many people wait until it’s too late before they visit their mechanic, catching an issue early could save you thousands in repair cost. Your car engine is an important system that need routine care and maintenance. Here are some of the early signs to watch out for:

Check Engine Light is on

The dashboard alert light warns you about possible problems via On-Board Diagnosis System, if you ignore this signal you could be doing more damage to your car. Some of the possible issues associated with this can be the fuel cap isn’t on tight enough, or spark plugs are worn, or the catalytic converter is worn.

The Car is Making Strange Noises

A coughing spluttering noise is one of the clearest warnings you need to get to a garage as soon as possible. This noise can be caused by the wear in the car’s mechanical parts. Ignoring this can lead to a huge repair bill as this can lead to terrible engine damage.

Hard Starts

If you have difficulty starting your car it could be an indicator of several problems like a failing battery or broken starter or ignition system.

Stalling can not only be a sign of engine trouble but can also leave you stranded on the side of a road.  This can be the result of a failing fuel pump or a clogged fuel filter. It’s important to take note on where the car stalls such as taking off in traffic, when breaking or after starting.

Rough Idling or Acceleration

If your car is running rough when idling or accelerating this could indicate a problem with the spark plugs or the spark plug wires, it may also point to dirty fuel injectors.

When out driving your engine needs to be in perfect health. If you have experienced any of these issues with your car contact your mechanic immediately.  And remember drive safe.
